Supervision

Supervision? What’s that?

Supervision is for people in the many fields where work with other people is paramount.  This is often counsellors, art therapists, social workers and similar, but is also very common in nursing, midwifery and more and more often, leadership positions in all fields of business.

This isn’t same as the supervisor who tells you what to do at your job, peering over your shoulder to find what you are doing wrong – SNOOPervision, in control of your annual review.  It’s unfortunate that it has the same name, but hey, I didn’t choose it!

This kind of supervision is about taking a greater/broader/stepped back view – with a different perspective, keeping your interests as prominent as those of the client and organisation that brings you together.  If supervision is new to you, but you’re curious, book a free 30min session to talk about how it might work for you!

What I’m interested in

In supervision I am particularly interested in the meeting of Māori and non-Māori.  I am interested in helping the practitioner learn and grow, not just talk about their clients.  I am interested in providing a place you can heal, grow and keep you and your clients safe. And, surprise! I’m very interested in online service provision.

Where do I see my supervisees?

Like my counselling and art therapy clients – I see all my clients online, via secure video chat platform.  I love the accessibility this provides – you can be anywhere; I can be anywhere.  Location doesn’t have to be a barrier in this day and age.

What qualifies me?

I’ve been in the counselling and then art therapy field for around 20 years, and as well as my degree in counselling and masters in art therapy, I also hold a post-grad certificate in supervision, completed in 2021.

I am passionate about this work!
