Mindful Arts Therapy – Online Group
Mindfulness with the added benefits of expressive arts!
The information on this page is for an ACC sensitive claims approved online group. Your counsellor or psychologist can help you access the group if you have an approved claim.
Mindful Arts Therapy offers a supportive space to practise a range of mindfulness practices, and engage in a related creative activity. The creative exploration can deepen your experience of the technique and help you find personalized variations.
90 min Sessions will begin with 10-15mins of mindfulness then move into a related art activity to more deeply engage with the strategy and possibly help you adapt it to your specific needs. Each week you’ll be invited to explore a new mindfulness technique at the pace and level you’re comfortable with, then we’ll offer a related expressive arts activity for you to engage in. Artmaking can be soothing and enjoyable but can also offer new perspectives on the mindfulness approach. There will be time for reflection and then an opportunity to share thoughts and/or images. This deepens the learning and builds a sense of community in the group but is completely optional. Self-care and safety for participants will always be top priority.
Potential benefits:
- Explore a variety of mindfulness techniques you can integrate into their daily routine
- Engage in mindful drawing and art making practices which foster present moment awareness, grounding and emotional regulation.
- Develop confidence in using mindful art making to enhance a sense of calm, and build resilience.
